Working visit of the Plitvice Lakes National Park delegation to the Republic of Finland

A delegation from the Plitvice Lakes National Park, headed by Borislav Perica paid a working visit to the Republic of Finland on 9–16 September 2007. In addition to presenting marketing and management methods in the park, the objective of the visit was also to stimulate initiatives to develop future co-operation, to expand the tourism market and to attain new knowledge regarding the management and protection of protected areas. The delegation also visited visitor centres in the Lapland region in northern Finland.

Working visit of the Plitvice Lakes National Park delegation to the Republic of Finland

A delegation from the Plitvice Lakes National Park, headed by Borislav Perica paid a working visit to the Republic of Finland on 9–16 September 2007. In addition to presenting marketing and management methods in the park, the objective of the visit was also to stimulate initiatives to develop future co-operation, to expand the tourism market and to attain new knowledge regarding the management and protection of protected areas. The delegation also visited visitor centres in the Lapland region in northern Finland.

Ilkka Heikkinen, director of the Nature Protection Division in the Finnish Ministry of the Environment; Borislav Perica, director of Plitvice Lakes National Park; Pekka Koponen, director of the Agency for Management of Natural Heritage; Damir Kušen, Croatian Ambassador to the Republic of Finland.

At the invitation of Ambassador Damir Kušen, a presentation of the Plitvice Lakes National Park was held at the Croatian Embassy for leading Finnish touroperators, tourist agencies and reporters. Distinguished guests included representatives of the Finnish Nature Management Agency, Environment Institute, Ministry of the Environment and directors of several Finnish national parks.
The delegation also paid visits to several visitor’s centres in the Lapland region to become better acquainted with how the centres operate, as construction of a visitor’s centre is planned in the near future for Plitvice Lakes National Park.
